Enchanting Swedish Photographer’s Cabin: Your Dream Retreat Awaits!
Four years ago, while flipping through the pages of the Swedish country life magazine ‘Lantliv,’ I stumbled upon this picturesque summer cottage. Enthralled by its beauty, I reached out to the owner, asking for permission to feature it on My Scandinavian Home. Since then, I’ve been daydreaming about this stunning woodland cottage located a couple of hours North of Stockholm, often seeking inspiration from it for our own small cabin.
The real estate agent describes this cottage as an idyllic retreat where every detail has been carefully considered. After perusing the photos, I can only concur!
During the summer, Lina, Karl, their daughter Charlie, and their Jack Russell Terrier Kilda make the most of the great outdoors—cooking, tending to the vegetable and flower patches, or simply unwinding on the terrace.
In Sweden, it’s not uncommon to find wooden floors painted with patterned diamonds. I adore this technique—it provides the pleasure of walking on wood while creating the illusion of expensive tiled flooring, without the associated cost!
Inside, the cottage exudes a sense of tranquility and appears remarkably clutter-free, despite containing all the essentials for a perfect getaway. Imagine walls adorned with two-tone colors—white and grey—open shelving, and a collection of relaxed vintage furniture.
The cottage boasts three bedrooms—one on the lower floor, a sleep loft (visible above the dining area), and an additional bedroom in an outbuilding.
Adding storage to a sleep loft can be challenging, but this IKEA solution is truly remarkable!
Lina and Karl manage a shop called Noy Road, where they sell ethically and sustainably produced home textiles, many of which can be found scattered throughout the cottage.
