Abandoned Dog Found Tied Up Outside Airport After Being Denied Boarding

In a heart-wrenching incident, a dog was discovered abandoned and tied up outside an airport in Iowa, United States, after its owner was prohibited from bringing it on board due to the absence of a carrier.

A young dog was found abandoned outside an airport in the United States after its owner was unable to fly with it. Rescuers from the Animal Rescue League named the incredibly sweet one-year-old puppy Allie. The dog was found tied up in front of Des Moines International Airport in Iowa last Thursday and was promptly rescued.

According to airport staff, the owner, who is presumed to be the traveler, was stopped from bringing the dog on the plane because they did not have a carrier. Subsequently, the individual left the airport with the puppy but returned alone to catch their flight, leaving the poor dog tied up outdoors.

The Animal Rescue League shared an emotional post on its Facebook page, stating, “Unprecedented flight cancellations have left thousands of people stranded at airports this week, but the airlines weren’t to blame for this sweet pup being stranded at the Des Moines airport yesterday…”

Upon receiving a call about a dog tied up outside the airport, ARL Animal Services officers arrived on the scene. Airline workers informed them that the dog’s owner could not board the cross-country flight with the dog because they did not have a kennel. The owner left the airport with the dog but returned alone to board their flight.

Later, the one-year-old female dog, now known as Allie, was found tied up outside the airport. Allie is extremely friendly and is currently safe and receiving love and care from our dedicated staff.

The incident is still under investigation, and further details will be shared as they become available.

The charity provided a link for dog lovers to donate towards Allie’s care through an online platform.

“This is heartbreaking,” wrote one person, while another commented, “How can people simply leave their pets? My pets are like my children!”

Numerous individuals offered their homes for adoption, with one follower stating, “I would love to welcome her into my family. She’s going to be a popular girl, I can tell! I pray she finds a family that will love her unconditionally.”
