Family Adopts ‘Unicorn Dog’ Who Endured Rough Life Just Before She Was Euthanized
Strawberry, a 2-year-old pit bull known as the “unicorn dog,” has finally found a loving home in South Pasadena after a challenging journey. She was rescued by the La Belle Foundation in Los Angeles, having endured difficult times and showing signs of abuse. Strawberry had scratches on her swollen face, goopy eyes, and two large lumps on her head, which were initially mistaken for tumors.
Fortunately, further examinations revealed that the lumps were scar tissue from an old injury and not life-threatening. However, due to the initial misdiagnosis, shelters had considered euthanizing her. But Strawberry’s luck changed when the Kuhlman family saw her online and felt an instant connection.
The Kuhlman family had recently lost a beloved dog of 15 years and decided to bring Strawberry into their home, providing her with the love and care she deserved. The twins, Claire and Jack Kuhlman, enjoy snuggling and playing with Strawberry, who has quickly become a cherished member of the family.
Strawberry’s unique appearance, with the distinctive bump on her head, has made her recognizable in the neighborhood, and she has gained admirers who affectionately call out her name. The Kuhlman family decided to keep her original name, Strawberry, as it felt like a perfect fit for her.
Despite the challenges Strawberry faced and the close call she had with euthanasia, she has now found a loving family who adores her. She is thriving in her new home, where she is showered with affection and has brought joy to the lives of her adoptive family and those around her.
