Meet Mia, a beautiful puppy born with a rare and unusual condition – she has five legs and two tails. Sadly, her previous owners surrendered her because they couldn’t afford the specialized therapy she needed.

Thankfully, Casas Cunas Animal Shelter stepped in and took Mia under their care. At just 2 months old, she is dewormed and receiving the love and attention she deserves.

Mia’s extra paw and tails are positioned near her stomach, and she also has two vaginas and two anuses, which requires special attention for her toileting needs.

The shelter is seeking donations to fund the surgeries Mia needs. To proceed with the necessary medical operations, more precise x-rays and ultrasounds are required.

While her litter mates are healthy and have found loving homes, Mia is facing this challenge with the support of her caretakers.

Similar to a puppy named Skipper who was treated at Neel Veterinary Hospital in 2021, it is believed that Mia’s condition may have resulted from a congenital birth defect where she was meant to have a twin but failed to fully separate.

Five days later, Mia is set to undergo her first surgery tomorrow, and she is receiving ongoing veterinary care to ensure her well-being.

Despite the difficulties and expenses involved in helping Mia, her latest report shows promising signs, and there is hope that she can lead a long and happy life.
