The Heartwarming Friendship Between An Orphaned Elephant And A Sheep (VIDEO)
A baby elephant named Themba became an orphan after his mother fell off a cliff. He was closely monitored, and the caretakers hoped that he would be adopted by another mother. But after a week, he was still alone.
They took him to the Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. He was introduced to Albert, a sheep. Themba approached Albert and scared him.
Albert hid in a cave for twelve hours, but Themba’s persistence finally won over Albert, and he emerged. They became inseparable friends.
Dr. Johan Joubert, the wildlife director of the center, said that sturdy sheep can handle the turbulence with Themba much better than the human staff. He added, “Albert is like a brother to Themba and is definitely an important member of Themba’s herd.”
