Adidas Unveils New Away Kit Design: Manchester United Fans Share Their Reactions

The recent unveiling of Manchester United’s 2023/24 away kit has sparked mixed reactions from fans, with some expressing strong disapproval of the design by Adidas.

“Absolutely hideous, what were they thinking? This kit is nauseating,” “I think we should terminate the contract with Adidas immediately. They are creating something far from beautiful,” “Truly a dreadful outfit”… MU supporters flooded the club’s article with harsh criticism.

The new away kit features stars like Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Mason Mount. Adidas decided to surprise fans by opting for a color scheme unrelated to the club’s traditional identity, with a dominant shade of blue. According to the official MU website, this design draws inspiration from the club’s rich history while presenting a modern, fresh, and dynamic look.

“The kit brings back memories of the club’s early years, reviving the iconic vertical stripes last seen two decades ago,” explained MU. On the other hand, an Adidas spokesperson mentioned that the criticism might stem from fans not fully grasping the significance of this design: “We are extremely excited to return to the foundation of this great club’s heritage. The vertical stripes are deeply embedded in Manchester United’s DNA, and we hope this bold and inspiring look will resonate with everyone.”

Beyond its eye-catching appearance, Adidas claims that the kit incorporates advanced moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating technology, ensuring players stay dry and comfortable, fully focused on the match and giving their all on the field. Furthermore, the brand aims to contribute to environmental protection as the kit is made entirely from 100% recycled materials.

Amidst the criticism, there are, of course, fans who find the Adidas design intriguing and appreciate the throwback aspect. The new MU away kit will be debuted by the players in their match against Wrexham.
