Cristiano Ronaldo’s Influence: De Gea and 2 MU Stars on the Verge of Al Nassr Move
Cristiano Ronaldo is using his influence to help Al Nassr secure top-quality players during the 2023 summer transfer window.
Al Nassr has recently welcomed another new signing for the summer of 2023. Defender Alex Telles, who was no longer part of Manchester United’s plans for the 2023/24 season, joined the Saudi Pro League side for a fee of £4 million. Additionally, Manchester United stands to gain an extra £10 million through various clauses in the deal.
On their official website, Manchester United bid farewell to the Brazilian international, stating, “Alex Telles has completed his transfer from Manchester United to Al Nassr. The 30-year-old full-back joins the Saudi Pro League club after making 50 appearances for the Red Devils.”
According to revelations from Mirror, superstar Cristiano Ronaldo played a crucial role in making this transfer happen. The former number 7 of Old Trafford had a close partnership with Telles during the 2021/22 season before their paths diverged in the 2022/23 campaign.
But the dealings don’t end there, as Al Nassr is also working with Manchester United on the potential transfer of Eric Bailly. It is expected that “The Red Devils” will receive £20 million for the sale of the Ivorian center-back. Both players are deemed surplus to requirements, making Al Nassr’s interest a stroke of luck for Manchester United.
Journalist Nathan Ridley confirms that Ronaldo personally called Bailly to invite him to join the Saudi Pro League. CR7 shared his experience of living in Riyadh, which has left Bailly contemplating his final decision about the future.
It is believed that Ronaldo is also working to bring David De Gea to Saudi Arabia. The Spanish goalkeeper is eager to return home after not having his contract renewed by Manchester United. However, both Barcelona and Real Madrid have settled goalkeeping situations, while former club Atletico Madrid doesn’t seem keen on selling Jan Oblak. De Gea is not interested in joining lower-tier clubs either.
Therefore, Al Nassr has presented two offers. While De Gea may be hesitant to leave top-tier European football at the age of 33, the persuasive efforts of Ronaldo could very well lead the goalkeeper to accept the move to Al Nassr in the coming days.”
