Insights from Cristiano Ronaldo: Reflecting on the Significance of the Future in Saudi Arabia

Despite failing to lead Al Nassr to the championship in the Saudi Arabian league, C. Ronaldo affirms his commitment to stay with the team.

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr as a free agent in January of this year. The player performed remarkably well, contributing 14 goals in 16 matches in the Saudi Arabian national championship. Regrettably, he couldn’t secure the league title for Al Nassr.

During this time, there have been constant rumors in the media about Ronaldo’s potential departure from Al Nassr, citing dissatisfaction with life and football in Saudi Arabia. However, the superstar, number 7, personally refuted these claims.

The Portuguese forward stated, “I still have a contract with Al Nassr until 2025 and feel content with my current life. I want to continue dedicating myself to Al Nassr, so I will stay in Saudi Arabia.”

“I hope that Al Nassr will perform even better in the upcoming season. We have significantly improved our strength in the last 5 or 6 months. Therefore, I believe that Al Nassr can clinch the Saudi Arabian league championship in the near future,” he added.

It is not beyond the realm of possibility that the Saudi Arabian league will welcome two more stars, Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema, this summer. Messi is said to be close to joining Al Hilal, while Benzema has the possibility of joining Al Ittihad.

Regarding this prospect, C. Ronaldo commented, “They will undoubtedly receive a warm welcome if they come here. Their presence will enhance the value of the Saudi Arabian national championship. For me, this league is an appealing stage for both Arab players and colleagues from abroad.”

Saudi Arabia is eager to promote its bid for hosting the World Cup in 2030, so they spare no expense in recruiting top stars. Cristiano Ronaldo himself receives €200 million annually at Al Nassr (including salary, bonuses, and promotional activities). If Messi moves to Saudi Arabia, he could earn up to €300 million per year, while Benzema might receive €100 million per year.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains committed to Al Nassr and looks forward to a successful future with the team. With the potential addition of other football giants like Messi and Benzema, the Saudi Arabian league continues to rise in prominence, aiming to strengthen its candidacy for hosting the World Cup in 2030.
