Cristiano Ronaldo Overtakes Kylie Jenner as the Highest-Paid Star on Instagram

Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has surpassed Kylie Jenner to become the highest-paid star on Instagram. With each post on his personal page, the renowned athlete receives millions of USD.

According to the Daily Mail, Cristiano Ronaldo topped the 2022 Instagram Rich List, earning a staggering £1.87 million (approximately $2.4 million USD) for every sponsored post on Instagram. In comparison, Kylie Jenner, the second highest-paid star, receives around £1.47 million (approximately $1.89 million USD) per sponsored post.

Currently, Ronaldo boasts 597 million followers on his Instagram account, securing the top spot on the platform’s most famous rankings. His closest contender is the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner family, Kylie, with 397 million followers. In recent years, CR7 has witnessed remarkable growth on Instagram. In 2019, he ranked third on the Instagram Rich List, earning approximately £755,000 (over $971,000 USD) per sponsored post.

The Portuguese striker often promotes sports website LiveScore, health care brands, cryptocurrency exchanges, perfumes, shoes, and watches on his personal page.

Meanwhile, Kylie focuses on beauty and fashion brands. She primarily utilizes her social media fame to introduce her followers to new products from her own brands, such as Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Swim.

The Instagram Rich List is established by HopperHQ, a company that analyzes data, including average engagement rates, posting frequency, industry variables, and follower counts, to determine the amount each user receives for their posts on their personal accounts.

Cristiano topping the list is the latest impressive milestone for the football superstar born in 1985. In May, Forbes honored him as the highest-paid athlete in the world, with an annual income of £109 million (approximately $140 million USD) – the highest-ever for a football player in history.

In January, Cristiano moved to the Saudi Pro League through a contract worth £175 million (approximately $225 million USD). This significant transfer deal propelled him to the top of Forbes’ list of the richest athletes, a position he last held in 2017.

According to Forbes, approximately £37 million (around $4.76 million USD) of Ronaldo’s total income comes from his primary profession, while the rest comes from off-field deals.

Throughout history, only three athletes have earned more than Ronaldo from their off-field ventures in a single year: tennis legend Roger Federer, golfer Tiger Woods, and MMA fighter Conor McGregor.
