Real Madrid Secures Kepa Arrizabalaga’s Loan Signing from Chelsea
Real Madrid’s official website has confirmed the successful acquisition of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.
Real Madrid swiftly sought a replacement for Thibaut Courtois following the Belgian star’s lengthy injury-induced absence. Among the potential candidates, Kepa Arrizabalaga emerged as the leading contender to join Bernabeu.
With Chelsea having successfully recruited Robert Sanchez, Kepa was no longer the top choice between the posts. The Spanish goalkeeper was also omitted from the matchday squad for the recent clash against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
All signs pointed towards Kepa’s move to Real Madrid, a destination that led him to decline an invitation from Bayern Munich. Finally, in the latest development, Real’s official website has announced securing Kepa’s signature on a loan basis until the summer of 2024. There are no future purchase clauses included in the agreement between Real and Chelsea. It is noted that the former Athletic Bilbao player will be unveiled by Real on Tuesday, local time.
With Kepa’s arrival, Andriy Lunin will find himself vying for his place. Kepa has proven to be an experienced option who has showcased his quality in the Premier League.
