Against All Odds: Triplet Mother Defies 6 Million-to-One Chance

In an astonishing feat, a triplet herself, Judit Agota Minda, has defied incredible odds of six million-to-one by naturally conceiving three babies. However, the overwhelming task of caring for a trio of newborns has left her sleep-deprived and battling feelings of depression.

Judit, a 31-year-old from Norway, was taken aback when she discovered that she and her fiancé Glenn, 38, were expecting not one, but three children. Despite being advised by doctors to consider a fetal reduction due to her heart condition, Judit couldn’t fathom her life without all three babies. Growing up with an unbreakable bond with her own sisters, she felt compelled to give her children the same connection.

On January 29th of this year, Judit gave birth to her precious trio via cesarean section at 34 weeks. However, the sleep deprivation that accompanies caring for three infants has taken its toll, triggering feelings of depression. Judit acknowledges that sleep deprivation is a real challenge and can significantly contribute to the symptoms of depression, which she had never experienced before.

Although Judit previously lived in the US, she moved to Norway in 2015 to be with her sisters and eventually became a primary school teacher after dedicating four months to learning the language. It was in December 2016 that she met Glenn, a managing director, through an online dating website. The couple moved in together just three months later. Judit fell pregnant in June 2018, and at the eight-week mark, they received the astonishing news of three heartbeats.

“They say there is a one in six million chance for a naturally conceived triplet to go on to have naturally conceived triplets,” Judit exclaimed.

Judit also suffers from tachycardia, a condition characterized by an irregular heartbeat. Doctors expressed concern about the strain that carrying three babies would put on her heart. While they suggested a fetal reduction to increase the chances of survival for all three, Judit and Glenn ultimately decided against it.

To document her pregnancy journey, Judit started an Instagram account, where her posts resonated with hundreds of other triplet moms. She openly shared her struggles with morning sickness, stretch marks, and a weak bladder.

Her children, Filip, Amelia, and Henrik, were born weighing 4lb 4oz, 3lb 4oz, and 3lb 3oz, respectively.

“When my babies were placed on my chest for the first time, I cried tears of joy. I had never felt such a powerful rush of love,” Judit recalled.

The babies remained in intensive care until they gained enough strength to go home. Now, Judit continues to share stunning photos of her family of five on her Instagram page, providing regular updates and candid confessions. She recently revealed that becoming a first-time mother to three little ones has transformed her into a different person, and they are currently adjusting to a new sleeping routine.
