A Charming Small House and Garden Create a Warm and Romantic Atmosphere
With the arrival of spring and eventually summer, it’s pleasant to observe how all the bright green leaves come to life on the trees after months of dormancy. And the cottage season begins outside the city! I was amazed to discover that in Sweden, there are rows of “kolonistugor” – small residential cottages where you can live from late spring to early autumn.
A red house is a common sight for Swedes. Its bright and uncomplicated color scheme stands out beautifully against the trees and greenery. Despite the modest size of the house itself, the owners have a relatively spacious plot of land.
In addition to a small vegetable garden, there are two relaxation areas on the premises. In one case, it’s a couple of benches around a table, and in the other, it’s wicker chairs and a sofa under a beach umbrella.
Inside the house, the interior design follows the typical Scandinavian style – minimal accents and maximum comfort. The main color scheme is beige. Despite the modest size of the house and the fact that it’s a summer cottage, the space is furnished in a very cohesive and functional manner.
As soon as we enter, we step into the living area. But first, of course, we hang our coats on the hooks. The living room features a small gray sofa, a coffee table, and a dark wooden chair. It’s quite cozy, and the textiles add more variety to the interior.
The kitchen is the brightest and most vibrant space. This is due to the choice of furniture and the abundance of decor throughout the area. Considering the small size of the house, you would expect limited functionality, even in such an important part. Nevertheless, the kitchen has everything necessary for cooking and comfortable use of the space. It’s worth highlighting the wooden table in the center, which appears to serve as the dining area.
The family coming here to spend the summer seems to be not small, as the number of sleeping places increases from “room to room.” This area seems to be a children’s zone.
The main bedroom is located in the attic, accessed by a staircase in the center of the house. Inside, we see a double mattress, and that’s all.
This Swedish house we’ve explored presents a coziness, warmth, and functionality even within a very small area.
