Enchanting and Dangerous: The Beautiful Cat with Black Ears and Fiery Red Fur
Beyond its exceptional running and jumping abilities, this species of cat can swim underwater to catch fish and climb trees to capture birds.
This is a young cat belonging to the caracal breed, also known as the black-eared lynx.
The term “caracal” originates from the Turkish word “kara kulak,” which means “black ear.”
True to its name, this black-eared lynx has a striking coat of reddish-brown fur with tall, pointed ears topped with long black tufts.
Depending on the region, their fur color can vary from a sandy hue to a deep red.
This cat breed is a cross between a leopard and a lynx, characterized by its slender body and long legs.
They primarily inhabit Africa, the Middle East, and India.
Although they are considered small in the feline family, adult caracals can weigh up to 22.6 kg.
They can run at speeds of up to 80 km/h and take down an adult human in the blink of an eye.
They often operate alone, but occasionally form pairs or groups, especially during the breeding season.
These cats are excellent climbers and they also dig underground dens for giving birth to their young.
Once the caracal kittens reach maturity (around 9-10 months), they venture into the wild on their own.
Due to their habitats in harsh climatic conditions, this lynx species consumes very little water.
In reality, the majority of their water intake comes from the prey they catch for food.
