The Heartwarming Tale of an Orphaned Cow Embraced by a Dog Family
Prepare to be touched by the extraordinary story of Buddy, a young cow who found love and acceptance within a dog family from an early age. Raised alongside the dogs, Buddy has lived a long and fulfilling life, considering himself one of them.
Buddy, an adorable cow, was adopted by Coral and Wayne Algie when he was only one day old. Growing up under the care and companionship of the Algie family’s dogs, he gradually began to perceive himself as a dog. Whenever he felt excited, he would wag his tail just like any domesticated animal. It is worth noting that Buddy’s mother tragically passed away after getting trapped in a dam near the Algie family’s farm in New South Wales, Australia.
The couple welcomed Buddy into their home, alongside their dog Bada, who had recently given birth to a litter of 11 puppies. Currently, at six weeks old, Buddy displays many dog-like behaviors, such as playing catch with his siblings, wagging his tail, and cuddling together during sleep.
Coral shared, “Bada truly regarded Buddy as her 12th puppy, and even Buddy himself didn’t realize he was a cow. I always thought he was much more dog-like. Buddy enjoys playing with both humans and dogs, and the care that Bada provides to this orphaned calf is truly heartwarming. They are often inseparable.”
Wayne and Coral discovered Buddy’s dire situation while attempting to rescue his mother from the neighboring dam. Unfortunately, after escaping, she was exhausted and passed away soon after.
Since being adopted by the Algie couple, Buddy has seamlessly adjusted to life on the farm. The cow often engages in playful activities with the family’s children, Bella and Lawson. “Buddy is very affectionate; he often chases and rides bicycles with the children,” Coral affectionately mentioned.
Despite being part of the dog family, it is undeniable that Buddy is a cow. As he continues to grow larger, he will eventually have to sleep on the porch. Buddy consumes 10 and a half liters of fresh milk every day, and when fully mature, he can weigh up to 600 kg. However, Coral and Wayne Algie emphasize that regardless of his “oversized” nature, Buddy will always be considered a beloved pet in their household.
