A Brave dog risked his life to fight off a puma and save two little girls
A few months ago, Ulises, the grandson of the inventor Dr. Nores Martines, embarked on a trip to La Cocha to accomplish some tasks. His plan was to travel and return on the same day, so he brought along his 10-year-old daughter, Sofa. The journey started smoothly.
Once they reached the estancia, Ulises began working with Tomas, the foreman. Meanwhile, Sofa and Yoli, Tomas’ daughter, asked for permission to walk to a massive fig tree located about 700 yards away from the main house to harvest and enjoy some figs.
Yoli climbed up to the highest branch she could reach, knowing that the tastiest figs were usually at the top. However, there was an unexpected surprise awaiting her in the tree.
As Yoli was approximately 7 feet above the ground, she started hearing sounds coming from the tree—branches twisting and leaves rustling. Little did she know, a puma, also known as a mountain lion or cougar, was concealed in the same tree.
Yoli looked up and saw a large puma leaping down from the top branches. “The beast struck the girl with its paw, and Yoli fell all the way down, landing flat on her back from a height of two meters.”
Morocho, one of Ulises’ courageous Dogo Argentino dogs, had been playfully following them with his tail wagging, as he usually does when they roam around the estancia.
When Yoli’s father heard the girls crying, he rushed over as fast as he could. And in that moment, Morocho faced the puma head-on, deciding to risk his life to rescue the two little girls.
“I thought it was a snake,” Tomas Bracamonte said. “I ran as fast as I could to them.”
When Tomas arrived, he found Morocho. The dog had been seriously injured but was still alive. The puma had fled.
Today, those two little girls owe their lives to Morocho’s bravery. Morocho’s heroic act has touched the hearts of millions of people around the world.
God bless him, our fur angels watching over us all! God bless him!
