Jurgen Klopp speaks out on the rumors of Liverpool’s interest in Mbappe

Mbappe’s future has been a hot topic this summer. The French forward has only one year left on his contract with PSG, and the club is actively looking to sell him. Among the clubs expressing interest in Mbappe is Liverpool.

However, Liverpool’s interest in Mbappe has even surprised their own manager, Jurgen Klopp. He said, “When we heard the rumors about Liverpool wanting to buy Mbappe, we found it laughable. I can confirm that he (Mbappe) is an excellent player, but Liverpool’s financial conditions cannot meet such a demand.

I don’t want to call these rumors absurd, but honestly, I know nothing about it. Could it be that someone at Liverpool wants to surprise everyone, including me?”

“In my eight years here, there has never been such a shocking surprise. If this time, something this crazy happens, it would be the first time I experience something of that magnitude.”

Liverpool has been fairly active in the transfer market. The club bid farewell to the likes of Henderson and Fabinho while welcoming Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. Klopp still desires to bring in more players, but it’s not a straightforward task for Liverpool at the moment.

As for Mbappe, the striker has officially decided not to activate the contract extension clause with PSG. The French star’s current contract is set to expire in June 2024. Additionally, Mbappe has already pocketed a “loyalty bonus” of around 60 million Euros.
