Manchester United Nearing a Move for Sofyan Amrabat: Midfield Reinforcement in the Spotlight

Recent reports from Il Tirreno confirm that Manchester United is set to make a move for Sofyan Amrabat, adding to the club’s efforts to bolster their midfield depth. Under the guidance of manager Erik ten Hag, United is keen on addressing their midfield concerns and is specifically focusing on recruiting a quality central midfielder.

Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina has been placed on Manchester United’s target list for the defensive midfield position. However, progress in United’s pursuit of Amrabat has been relatively slow.

Currently, Ten Hag’s midfield options include Casemiro, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, and Christian Eriksen, following Fred’s move to Fenerbahçe. While Amrabat remains a top choice, Manchester United is reported to be considering alternative options such as Everton’s Amadou Onana and Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch.

After a setback against Tottenham, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano affirmed that the Red Devils are undoubtedly planning to secure a midfielder in the near future.

The latest update from Italy’s Il Tirreno confirms that Manchester United is “virtually certain” to make a formal offer to sign Amrabat from Fiorentina.

Fiorentina, representing Serie A, is reportedly expecting a fee of €30 million along with potential add-ons for the transfer of Amrabat. Therefore, Manchester United’s decision is likely to conclude the prolonged Amrabat saga during this summer transfer window.
