Modric Evaluates Real Madrid Exit Amidst Reduced Playing Opportunities

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric is reportedly considering a departure from Real Madrid after finding himself frequently relegated to the substitutes’ bench due to a lack of regular playing time.

In a bid to secure Modric’s services, Al Hilal has presented a three-year contract offer worth around 200 million euros. However, this substantial figure hasn’t been enough to sway Modric’s decision.

According to 90min, Modric has agreed to extend his contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2024, based on assurances that he will continue to play a significant role in the heart of Los Blancos’ midfield. Nevertheless, things are unfolding differently than the Croatian midfielder had hoped for.

In the opening fixture of the 2023/24 La Liga season, Modric was only brought onto the field in the 80th minute when the outcome had already been settled. His diminishing status as a top priority under coach Carlo Ancelotti has left Modric discontented, according to Mundo Deportivo. Moreover, he has not been favored with sufficient playing time in the early stages of the season.

If the situation remains unfavorable, the 37-year-old midfielder might consider the option of parting ways with Santiago Bernabeu during the upcoming winter transfer window.

At present, Real Madrid boasts a well-stocked and high-quality midfield lineup, including Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Fede Valverde. Nonetheless, the presence of experienced veterans like Modric and Toni Kroos remains crucial, particularly in important matches.
