Unveiling the Singular Title Messi Never Grasped in His Illustrious Career

Throughout his illustrious career, Lionel Messi has managed to accumulate an impressive collection of 44 titles, as he recently surpassed Dani Alves in the record books after securing victory in the 2023 Leagues Cup with Inter Miami. Nonetheless, amidst his remarkable accomplishments, there is one official tournament that has eluded him—the French Cup.

In his brief stints with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Messi partook in the French Cup but could not lead his team to victory. During both attempts, PSG found themselves eliminated in the round of 16. In the 2021/2022 season, they were halted by Nice on penalties, while in the subsequent year, they suffered a 1-2 loss to their rivals Marseille.

Interestingly, PSG had previously clinched the French Cup six times between 2015 and 2021. However, since Messi’s arrival at the club, the trophy has remained beyond their grasp.

Although the absence of the French Cup in Messi’s accolades might seem like a blemish, the Argentine maestro likely isn’t too disheartened. The French National Cup isn’t regarded as a preeminent championship in his eyes. Messi has made it clear that his paramount goal is the World Cup, a feat he successfully accomplished last year.

As Messi has transitioned to Inter Miami from PSG, the French Cup may stand as the only notable gap in his otherwise storied career.

However, the French Cup’s absence likely doesn’t diminish Messi’s spirit, given that he places utmost significance on the World Cup. Presently, Messi and his Inter Miami team are focused on their upcoming US Cup semi-final clash against Cincinnati, with the hope of securing a ticket to the final, projected to take place at the close of the following month.
